Indonesia Exports Cars to Japan
Tuesday, 05 February, 2008 | 16:38 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Indonesia will export Daihatsu cars to Japan starting February 14. Toyota Astra Motor Indonesia’s President Director, Johny Darmawan, said that the export target is not only Daihatsu, but also Toyota. Car sales to Japan each month are expected to reach 1,200 units. “So it will be routine,” he said yesterday (4/2).

According to Johny, earlier Indonesia was known as a car importer from Japan. Indonesia, he said, can actually export cars but there is not any adequate port for storage. “After there is a car terminal in Tanjung Priok Port, car export quality can be well maintained,” he said.

This February 14, said Johny, as many as 300 to 500 cars will be exported to Japan using roll-on/roll-off shipping. Japan, said Johny, was enthusiastic for exporting cars from Indonesia. “The car standard is certainly adjusted to Japan’s export standard,” he said.
