TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Two banks from China have already put in a request to Bank Indonesia to buy the share ownership of Temasek in the largest PT Bank Internasional Indonesia (BII) shareholder consortium.
The Bank Indonesia (BI) Director of Research and Banking Management, Halim Alamsyah, said the letter was delivered last week.
The two Chinese banks are the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and the China Construction Bank (CCB).
They have conveyed their request to buy the 55.97 percent of Temasek’s shares ownership in BII.
“The letter was delivered, but I don’t know the follow-up because it must be studied first,” said Halim.
Earlier, the government gave state-owned banks the opportunity to buy BII.
Sofyan Djalil, the State-owned enterprises (SOEs) State Minister, said the interested state-owned banks had to convey their reasons and analysis to the SOEs Minister, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and the Finance Minister to be discussed further.
