TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: This year PT Global Mediacom Tbk, which has been focusing more on media and telecommunications, plans to develop local TV network and digital mobile TV.
Managing Director of Global Mediacom Hary Tanoesoedibdjo said that investment for developing local television network and digital mobile TV will be carried out through the corporation's subsidiary companies.
PT Mobile 8 will build up the digital mobile TV called Tren and PT Media Nusantara Citra (MNC) will set up a local television network.
“In the first phase, Tren will be launched in June 2008 with an investment of US$20 million. It will cover the area of Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, Depok and Bekasi,” said Hary yesterday (23/4).
According to him, the investment for Tren will come from the internal funds of Mobile 8.
In the future, Tren will also cover other areas as well, reaching Bandung by early 2009.
“If the response is good, we will penetrate other areas with an investment of between US$15 million and US$20 million in every city,” said Hary.
In addition, for the local television network, he added, MNC will invest US$50 million.
“The local television project has been started this year and will be completed in 2009,” said Hary.
