Libya Calls Gaza a Nazi Camp
Friday, 25 April, 2008 | 14:06 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, New York: The United Nations Security Council meeting was disbanded after Libyan Ambassador Giadalla Ettalhi compared the blockade that Israel set up over the Gaza Strip with the Nazi camp in the World War II.
The incident took place because the pro-Israel West diplomats left the room following after French Ambassador Jean Maurice Ripert. As a result, said South African Ambassador Dumisani Kumalo who presides over the Security Council this month, the sympathy resolution over the situation in Gaza failed.
This was another failure in which several Arab diplomats were disappointed with the attitude of the Western diplomats. “It is a pity. Those who protest by virtue of the genocide during World War II did so on the premise that the same thing happened to the Palestinian people,” said Syrian Ambassador to the United Nations Basyar Jafari. In fact, according to Jafari, the Security Council must take the right measures to handle the crisis in the region.
