TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The police have sent a Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team to check the facts regarding the identity of the body claimed by Philippines' military to be that of terrorist Dulmatin.
“On Tuesday (27/2) we sent a DVI team from the National Police (Polri) medical center to check whether or not it is really Dulmatin,” said Brig. Gen. Iskandar Hasan, Secretary of National Central Bureau (Interpol), at Polri HQ yesterday (27/2).
The team will compare the body's DNA with that of Dulmatin's family members who are still alive.
However, Iskandar could yet confirm when the research result can be publicized.
“When there's a result, we'll tell you,” he said.
The Philippines' military claimed Dulmatin died in a military attack in late January in Tawi-tawi, some time ago.
This is the fifth time Philippines military have claimed that the Bali Bombing perpetrator died.
According to Philippines military officers, Dulmatin died in the attack.
This certainty was supported by the results of a test conducted by Australian security officers.
The Philippines' National Police Crime Laboratory is testing the body's DNA to be matched with the DNA of Dulmatin's children taken last May.
The military also has Alfa Moha a.k.a. Bin as a key witness.
This Tawi-tawi native surrendered two weeks after the military operation on January 31.
According to Admiral Emilio Marayag, West Mindanao's Navy Commander, Moha acknowledged Dulmatin was seriously wounded during the shooting in Lubok area, Panglima Sugala, Tawi-tawi.
Dulmatin is one of the people who prepared the bomb in the Bali Bombing in 2002 which killed 202 people.
He is on the list of wanted people and his life is worth US$10 million from the United States government.
With the original name of oko Pitono, Dulmatin had a lot of aliases, including Amar Usman, Muktamar and Muhammad Noval.
