Medco Wants to Purchase Natuna Shares
Wednesday, 05 March, 2008 | 19:10 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: PT Medco E&P is interested in purchasing the Natuna gas field, owned by ExxonMobil and Pertamina.
“I am not sure yet, but if I am asked to work with Pertamina, we may be interested in buying their shares”, said Arifin Panigoro, owner of Medco E&P Indonesia in Jakarta.
However, he explained that if Medco purchased the shares then it would not be the majority shareholder.
The number of shares to be purchased will depend on the project structure.
“If it is pure LNG (Liquid Natural Gas), the shares will be very expensive”, said Arifin.
Regarding the divestment of Apexindo, he said that they were still blocked by the price.
“We are still looking for the good price because it is a good company. If the price is really high, then we will sell. But if we don’t sell, it doesn’t matter,” said Arifin.
