TEMPO Interactive, Surabaya: Victims from the overflowing Bengawan Solo River in Lamongan, East Java, have started to suffer from starvation after almost three weeks since being displaced on dams near the river.
Assistance from the government only comes once a week.
“It's been three weeks since our home was flooded, and the government has only given us three kilos of rice and some packets of instant noodles”, Mustakim from Kroyo village in Laren sub-district, Lamongan, told Tempo today (12/3).
Although the flooding is not as large as it was a few months ago, it has lasted the longest because it has lasted almost three weeks.
As a result, hundreds of villagers from Kroyo, Duri Kulon, Jabong, Centini, Siser, and other villages in Laren subdistrict have only been surviving on dams with limited facilities.
They expect the government to send them food and clothes as soon as possible.
