Bitung Hit by Earthquake

TEMPO Interactive, Manado: Bitung was hit by earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale in Thursday morning (13/3).

The Meteorology & Geophysics Agency (BMG) of North Sulawesi reported that the earthquake happened at 09.16 (Central Indonesian Time).

The earthquake location was 164 kilometers East of Bitung,” said Slamet Suyitno Rahardjo, the BMG coordinator for North Sulawesi.

Slamet stated that the earthquake did not have the potential for tsunami waves.

The epicenter of the earthquake was 1.65 North latitude and 126.66 East longitude and occurred at a depth of 20 kilometers.

There has not been damage reported due to the earthquake.
