TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Indonesian badminton teams have made it into easy groups for both the Thomas and Uber cups, as predicted by TransTV in Jakarta, yesterday (12/3).
For the Thomas Cup, Indonesia is in Group D together with Japan and Holland.
Indonesia is also in Group D for the Uber Cup and will compete with Germany and Thailand in the elimination round.
According to Tan Joe Hok, a former badminton player from 1959, it is expected that the male team will become group champions in the competition at the Gelora Bung Karno stadium, Jakarta, in May.
“However, it better not to be too confident first”, he said.
It’s a similar situation for Indonesia as regards the Uber Cup.
“In general, Indonesia is still better than Japan and Holland. I expect Indonesia will be group champion”, said Susi Susanti, who is now Indonesian team manager for the Uber Cup.
According to Susi, the Indonesian female teams are stronger in the doubles than Japan.
