Monday, 17 March, 2008 | 15:25 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: There is sufficient evidence to declare prosecutor Urip Tri Gunawan of being undisciplined in his position as a civil servant.
This judgment was made by the Attorney General’s Office (AGO based on the internal examination of 26 prosecutors during last week.
“It is enough to explain that there has been undisciplined behavior”, Halius Hosen, from the AGO, told Tempo yesterday (16/3).
Prosecutor Urip, Head of the Investigative team for the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Support (BLBI) case, was caught when receiving money of US$ 660,000 from Artalyta on March 2, and this is suspected to be bribery.
The case is still being investigated by the Commission to Eradicate Corruption (KPK).
Regarding the suspected bribery, Urip has been temporary halted from his work as prosecutor since 6 March.
He is currently being detained by the KPK at the Mobile Brigade (Bimob) headquarters in Kelapa Dua, Depok.
This case has forced the AGO to carry out an internal investigation.
The investigative team contains nine superintendent prosecutors and is led directly by the deputy superintendent attorney general, MS Rahardjo.
“The evaluation report of this investigation will be submitted to the Attorney General today”, said Halius.
The prosecutors examined include: deputy attorney general for special criminal actions Kemas Yahya Rahman; Director of investigation M. Salim; and nine members of BLBI investigative team led by Urip.
The BLBI case being handled by Urip was the case relating to obligor Sjamsul Nursalim.
