TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Irwandi Yusuf, the Governor of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD), has reported violations in the management of the provincial regional budget during the 2005-2006 period to the Commission to Eradicate Corruption (KPK) yesterday (18/3).
These violations are suspected of having happened in seven areas in NAD.
Due to these budget violations, Irwandi said he suspected that potential financial losses to the state could be as much as Rp202 billion.
The seven areas where budget violations are suspected to have taken place are Nagan Raya, West Aceh, Southwest Aceh, Central Aceh, South Aceh, Southeast Aceh, and Gayo Luwes.
Of these seven areas, Southeast Aceh is the one with the most suspected violations, where one of the perpetrators is a Regent.
Irwandi stated that the violations were uncovered during an audit by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) and not during an audit by the provincial government.
He reported the violations to the KPK as he was concerned.
“This was because there has never been any follow-up on the reported violations,” said Irwandi.
His report was received by M. Yassin, the Deputy Head of KPK’s prevention division,
According to Irwandi, M. Yasin promised to follow up the report and continue the investigation.
