Adam Air Banned from Flying
Wednesday, 19 March, 2008 | 17:28 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Department of Transportation has canceled Adam Air's airline operations specification, starting as from today (19/3).

“Automatically, all their airplanes are grounded,” said Budhi Mulyawan Suyitno, the Director General of Air Transportation, when announcing the cancellation at his office on Tuesday (18/3).

This decision against Adam Air is the result of the quarterly safety aspects audit.

Budhi explained that the audit concluded Adam Air had made several violations in its operations that could endanger flight safety.

This announcement was supposed to be made on March 25 but has been brought forward for safety reasons.

In general, Adam Air's violations related to aspects of plane operation and maintenance, as well as human resources training.

Budhi said that the operation of plane operation was not in line with the Company’s Operation Manual, and plane maintenance was not in line with the Company’s Maintenance Manual.

The ban on flying for Adam Air will be valid for three months.

If during this time, Adam Air has not made improvements and reported these to the Department of Transportation, then its air operator certificate will be revoked.

Currently, Adam Air holds an AOC 121-036 certificate.
