Bengawan Solo Has 10 Flood Detectors

TEMPO Interactive, Bojonegoro: Jasa Tirta I Malang in cooperation with Natural Resources Management Association for the Bengawan Solo river, together with the Disaster Management and Displaced Persons Unit, set up 10 flood detectors along the river Bengawan Solo.

The detector , has sirens to show the status of the river. The green light means to beware ; yellow for warning; and red for flood alert. This detector is will be turned on when the water is at an unsafe height.

The Coordinator for Disaster Management from the Natural Resources Management Association for Bengawan Solo, Moelyono, said that initially the detector will be installed in three spots in the Bojonegoro district. “Later, 10 will be installed,” said Moelyono in Bojonegoro yesterday.

Four units will be installed in Lamongan District, one in Tuban District, and two will be in Gresik. According to him, these areas indicate the status of the flood.

According to Moelyono, people living by the Bengawan Solo River, kept an eye on the flood from the Disaster Management Unit. By having this detector, they will be automatically be alerted to a flood threat.

Meanwhile, flood victims have bee3n added from Rumbai Pesisir subdistrict in Pekanbaru, Riau. They do not only have food and clean water difficulties, but are surprised by the presence of some big crocodiles passing around them.
