TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Government has submitted a letter containing names of candidates for governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) to the House of Representative (DPR) today. “It was sent, and will be announced in a plenary session soon,” said State Secretary Hatta Rajasa at the Presidential office, Tuesday (01/04).
Hatta does not mention the number and name of the candidates proposed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. “The letter was addressed by the President to the head of DPR,” said Hatta.
According to Hatta, the proposed names are recommended by economists who met the President last Friday. “They are the best candidates,” said Hatta.
Hatta believes the DPR will accept the proposed names. “God Willing. But I do not want to precede the DPR. It is DPR's authority to do the fit and proper test ,” said Hatta.
On Friday, the President called some of the economists, entrepreneurs, and editors of mass media to give their recommendation regarding candidates for governor of BI. The majority recommended Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Boediono.
Regarding a limited reshuffle for the ministers list, Hatta said, “I do not know yet about it. Let the President decide.”
