TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Forestry Commission of the House of Representatives (DPR) asks the government to audit the basic material in 39 pulp and paper companies in Indonesia, especially in Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP).
Head of the Forestry Commission, Syarfi Hutauruk, said that RAPP claimed for basic material deficiency when DPR visited their office last year. But actually they had a surplus. “They lied.” said Syafrie in Jakarta, Wednesday (02/04).
Previously, the executive director of Greenomics Indonesia, Elfian Efendi, said that RAPP has the basic material surplus in 2007 amounting to 1.56 million cubic meters. It is aligned with the data submitted by RAPP to the Forestry Department.
When he asked for sanctions, Syafrie said canceling the business permit of RAPP as the worst penalty. DPR will ask for clarification from RAPP first.
Public Relations Manager of RAPP, Troy Pantouw, said that they are ready to come to DPR. “We are very open to any party including Greenomics.” he said.
