WHO Contributes to Bird Flu Eradication in West Sumatera

TEMPO Interactive, Padang: The World Health Organization (WHO) donated Rp 15 billion to bird flu eradication in West Sumatera. The fund was given to Livestock Department in West Sumatera this year. Head of the Livestock Department, Edwardi, said WHO’s donation will be spent to train facilitators from infected areas, to disseminate bird flu information, and for vaccination and disinfectant supplies.
“There is training for 140 people, aimed to build their capacities for rapid reaction in eradicating bird flu. They will work within the community,” said Edward today. The Livestock Department will distribute two million vaccination and disinfectants to breeders in West Sumatera. There are three infected-areas in West Sumatera: Palupuh and Sianok in Agam District, Sungai Sungayang in Limapuluh Kota District, and Bukittinggi .
