DKI Guarantees MRT Management will be Professional

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Jakarta provincial government (DKI) has guaranteed that the selection of MRT Management Company would be carried out professionally.
“There will be high standards in selecting directors and commissioners,” said Jakarta governor Fauzi Bowo after meeting representatives of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) at city hall yesterday (17/4).
The MRT project, according to Governor Fauzi, was a vital one for the future of Jakarta in order to help overcome traffic jams in the capital city.
He said that the government was still working on setting the company PT MRT Jakarta.
“Starting in March 2009, construction is planned to be started,” explained Fauzi.
The Indonesian government and Japan investors are preparing the MRT construction between the Dukuh Atas and Kota districts of Jakarta.
Studies have already been carried out, “Just the feasibility study needs to be done now,” said Fauzi.
The MRT project will cost Rp10.264 trillion, made up of loans of Rp8.359 trillion from JBIC, Rp651 billion from the regional budget, and Rp1.254 trillion from the state budget to cover tax.
Initial construction will be from Lebak Bulus to Dukuh Atas a total distance of 14.3 kilometers.
There will be 12 stations: Lebak Bulus, Fatmawati, Cipete Raya, Haji Nawi, Blok A, Blok M, Sisingamangaraja, Senayan, Istora, Bendungan Hilir, Setia Budi, and Dukuh Atas.
