Thursday, 08 May, 2008 | 16:04 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Tangerang: The dike on the access road to the airport cracked and broke creating flooding on the toll road to Soekarno-Hatta airport for more than a kilometer, at 26.4 km. to 25 km. toward the Kamal area.

The water is 1.5 meters high and has been reduced by 90 cm this afternoon.

Head of PT. Angkasa Pura II, Haryanto, said that based on observation by helicopter, water is still flooding the road toward Jakarta and the airport.

The toll road cannot be used.

Hundreds of passengers are being transported by military and police trucks. Fourteen trucks have been provided.

It is being reported to Tempo that 32 flights have been delayed including 26 domestic flights.

“Passengers still can use their tickets although they may come late,” said Haryanto.

Haryanto said that due to this emergency situation, access to the airport through M1 is opened. There is also an emergency counter at Terminal 1B.
