Golkar Divided on Fuel Price Increases
Friday, 09 May, 2008 | 16:35 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Deputy Chairman of the Functional Group (Golkar) Agung Laksono said that Golkar has not decided on their position toward the government's plan to increase fuel prices. “Golkar is still discussing it,” he said at the House of Representatives (DPR) today.

According to Agung, there is a different opinion among Golkar administrators. He did not mention who agrees and disagrees. “We have various views,” he said.

Meanwhile, Golkar will wait for the government to decide officially to increase the fuel prices or not. “We are waiting for the government's proposal as there are many options proposed to the government,” he said.

The government, he continued, has to be careful in making a decision. The fuel price increase can be avoided if the government works harder in producing more oil.
