DPR Claims Better Performance of Its Legislation Work
Monday, 12 May, 2008 | 14:45 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The House of Representatives (DPR) failed to accomplish the targets of the National Legislation Program (Prolegnas).
However, DPR claimed that its performance as regards legislation programs was much better compared to the 1999-2004 period.
“It is predicted that DPR will have only accomplished 170 out of 284 regulation drafts by the end of the period,” said Nasir Jamil, a member of the DPR Legislation Board from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction today (12/5).
Previously, DPR Speaker Agung Laksono had called on DPR to immediately complete all the regulation drafts that have been under discussion since 2005.
Nasir said that during the previous period, the executive was more dominant in regulation drafting.
DPR has more authority now, supported by State Decree 10/2004.
Therefore the content of regulations will not be dominated by government interests.
“The budget for regulation drafting is also better,” said Nasir.
